Baxter is a premier Italian luxury furniture brand that treats leather the way a couturier treats fabric. Founded in 1990 between Brianza and Milan, the Italian brand selects full-grain hides, dyes them with natural anilines, and shapes them into sofas, armchairs, beds, and tables that soften and gain character with every year of use.

02. Baxter: Three Decades of Italian Leather Craftsmanship
Baxter was founded in 1990 by Luigi and Paolo Bestetti. From the beginning, the Bestettis set out to continue the Italian design-furniture tradition with one distinct pursuit: the highest expression of leather. Baxter's hides travel from Northern Europe to Italy's historic tannery districts, where master tanners dye them with natural anilines to preserve the grain, breathability, and depth of the raw material. In Baxter's workshops, the same leather is then folded, pleated, stitched with raw-cut edges, screen-printed, or polished, reading as soft velvet in one piece and as a structural shell in the next.
Over three decades, that tailored approach grew into a complete interior vision. Baxter works with a wide circle of Italian and international designers, led by longtime collaborator Paola Navone and including Piero Lissoni, Christophe Delcourt, Roberto Lazzeroni, Federico Peri, Studiopepe, and Draga & Aurel. Since 2022, La Casa sul Lago, a 20th-century villa on Lake Como, has hosted the presentation of each year's new collections.

Baxter's collections span sofas and armchairs, beds, chairs, tables, rugs, lighting, and collectible pieces for interiors, terraces, and gardens. Every piece is made to order in Italy and configured from Baxter's library of leathers, fabrics, stones, woods, and metals.
Sofas & Armchairs
The Chester Moon sofa by Paola Navone is Baxter's signature design: a reinterpretation of the classic Chesterfield, with hand-worked capitonné tufting that runs continuously across the seat, back, arms, and base. Upholstered only in Baxter's soft leathers, it is available from a single armchair to a sofa of nearly 13 feet, with matching poufs. Budapest, the first sofa Navone designed for Baxter, takes the opposite approach: a rigorous modular leather shell holding deep goose-down cushions. Budapest Soft relaxes the silhouette with raw-edge stitching and the option of oversized cushions to sink into.
Beds
The Casablanca bed by Paola Navone, introduced at the 2019 Salone del Mobile, pairs a low upholstered frame with a generous goose-down headboard that folds into soft cushions, finished in leather with sharp-edge stitching. Baxter's bedroom collection also includes Paris, Milano, Heaven, and Miami Soft, alongside Federico Peri's Stone bed and Studiopepe's So Soft bed, dormeuse, and pouf.
Tables & Surfaces
Baxter applies its leather philosophy to every material it works with: marble, stone, precious woods, metals, lacquers, and art glass are used in their pure form, with natural veining and variation left intact. Roberto Lazzeroni's Isamu dining table comes in wood and stone versions, and Christophe Delcourt's Lana low tables and consoles interlock blade-like bases with their tops in a constructivist composition. The collection continues through coffee tables, side tables, and consoles in stone, wood, metal, and leather.
Outdoor
Baxter carries the same material rigor to terraces, gardens, and poolsides. For Las Vegas homes, where the terrace is lived in most of the year, Baxter's outdoor pieces extend the brand's language well beyond the walls.
