01. DEDON
Bobby Dekeyser, a former professional soccer player turned entrepreneur, founded DEDON in 1990 with a revolutionary goal: create a synthetic fiber that could be woven into luxury furniture yet withstand any weather condition. Traditional outdoor materials like rattan and wicker couldn't survive harsh climates.
After extensive research, Dekeyser developed DEDON Fiber — strong enough to endure extreme elements, supple enough to weave into intricate designs. His search for skilled artisans led him to Cebu Island in the Philippines, home to master weavers whose traditions span generations. By 2000, DEDON opened its own manufacturing facilities there, becoming the only outdoor furniture company to control its complete supply chain from fiber development to final finishing.
Collaborations with design legends including Philippe Starck, Jean-Marie Massaud, and Sebastian Herkner transformed DEDON into a global brand. The NESTREST lounger, launched in 2011, became an instant icon. Today, DEDON is represented in over 100 countries while maintaining its commitment to handcraftsmanship and innovation.
