Edra Anywhere: A Luxury Modular Sofa by Francesco Binfaré
Anywhere is the modular sofa designed by Francesco Binfaré for Edra, introduced as the brand’s headline launch at Milan Design Week 2026. Edra calls it its first sofa with a mobile structure: the seat depth and the backrest angle both change with a simple movement of the hand.
Binfaré has worked with Edra since 1992 and is the designer behind many of its defining sofas, including Standard, where the Smart Cushion first appeared. Anywhere takes that idea further, from a cushion you shape to a sofa you reshape.
Available in Las Vegas through Salone, Anywhere is configured to each project, from a single element to a composition that fills a room.

Design of the Anywhere Sofa
Anywhere is built from seven elements, each on an irregularly shaped base. Their sides fit together, so the elements can be joined into one continuous sofa or set apart as individual seats.
The backrests are the moving part. Each one rotates on a pivot at the end of its base; guide it by hand and the seat becomes deeper or shallower. Upright for conversation, open for lounging, turned to face another seat.
The Smart Cushion
The Smart Cushion is Edra’s patented technology, built into Anywhere’s mobile structure. Press the backrest and it holds the angle you give it, with no levers, buttons or motors.
On Anywhere the cushion and the rotating backrest work together: one sets how deep you sit, the other how you lean. Every element can be set differently, so two people on the same sofa can sit two different ways.
Materials and Craftsmanship
The frame is steel, with painted wooden legs. Padding combines polyurethane with Gellyfoam®, Edra’s proprietary material, patented in 2004, which holds its shape over decades of use.
Anywhere is made to order at Edra in Perignano, Tuscany. Upholstery comes from Edra’s own range of fabrics and leathers and can be removed by a specialist for cleaning or re-covering.
Configurations
Because each element works on its own, Anywhere has no fixed layout:
A single element as an armchair or reading seat
Two or three joined along a wall
A composition that turns a corner
An island in the middle of a room, open on every side
Separate seats arranged to face one another
The elements can be regrouped later, when the room changes or the household does.
