Founded in 2001 by Jo Vandenbussche in Belgium, JOV emerged from a desire to craft rugs with integrity, durability, and personal meaning. Each rug is handmade to order — hand-tufted in Portugal and managed from the family's Belgian atelier — melding traditional techniques with a contemporary design sensibility.
01. JOV
Jo Vandenbussche, the founder, had built a 25-year career in the textile industry when, in 2001, he suddenly found himself without a job. Instead of walking away, he turned that moment into a beginning—founding JOV and channeling decades of expertise into rugs that carried both precision and soul.
Partnering with a small workshop in Espino, Portugal, Jo built a practice where each piece was made by hand for a specific space and person. By 2009, JOV opened its own dedicated production facility in Portugal, deepening control over quality and craft.
Today, Jo's son Gilles carries the vision forward, ensuring that JOV remains a family business creating rugs built to last generations. Each rug still begins as conversation between designer and client, then transforms through skilled hands into a unique floor covering.

JOV's collections are organized into three distinct categories, each offering different design approaches while maintaining the same commitment to handcrafted quality.
Architectural Collection
Textured rugs in refined neutral tones crafted from eight premium natural fibers: New Zealand wool, a luxurious silk-wool blend, Belgian linen, mohair, merino, alpaca, mercerized cotton, and Tencel™ lyocell. Ideal for modern homes where rugs function as foundational elements.
Made to Fit Collection
Patterned designs and collaborations that can be fully customized in color, shape, and size. Choose from JOV's existing patterns then modify colors to match your interior palette, adjust dimensions to fit your exact floor plan, and select materials based on room usage and desired texture.
Design Signature Collection
Exclusive collaborations with designers and artists including John Pawson, Studiopepe, and Laurids Gallée — realized with hands-on design integrity. These rugs function as art pieces for floors—bold statements where pattern, color, and craft intersect.
Custom Rug Design
