JOV
JOV offers exclusive handmade rugs for unique interiors, transforming floors into tactile landscapes.
Founded in 2001 by Jo Vandenbussche in Belgium, JOV emerged from a desire to craft rugs with integrity, durability, and personal meaning. Each carpet is handmade to order in Europe — hand-tufted in Portugal and finished in the family-run Belgian atelier—melding traditional techniques with a contemporary sensibility.
01. JOV
Jo Vandenbussche, the founder, had built a 25-year career in the textile industry when, in 2001, he suddenly found himself without a job. Instead of walking away, he turned that moment into a beginning — founding JOV and channeling decades of expertise into rugs that carried both precision and soul. Partnering with a small workshop in Espino, Portugal, Jo built a practice where each piece was made by hand, for a specific space and person. By 2009, JOV opened its own dedicated production facility in Portugal, deepening its control over quality and craft. Today, Jo’s son Gilles carries the vision forward, proving that resilience and integrity can shape not just a family business, but objects that last for generations.
02. History
JOV’s collections are organized into three distinct territories:
Architectural — textured rugs in refined tones crafted from premium natural fibers like New Zealand wool, silk, Belgian linen, mohair, merino, and Tencel™ lyocell.
Made to Fit — patterned designs and collaborations that can be fully customized in color, shape, and size.
Design Signature — limited-edition artist collaborations realized with hands-on design integrity.
Each rug is hand-tufted to order, from fiber to finish—crafted with materials such as wool, silk, linen, mohair, and merino — arriving in the client’s space as a unique, lasting interior object.
