For over a century, Vaselli has carried on the tradition and mastery of stone in Rapolano Terme — a small town between Siena and Florence where travertine has been quarried since the Etruscan era. Every piece begins with a block of stone and ends as a one-of-a-kind creation: a kitchen island carved from solid marble, a bathtub shaped from a single piece of travertine, a washbasin whose surface directs water like a natural stream. Each piece carries the weight, texture, and quiet permanence of the landscape it comes from.

02. History
The story begins in the early twentieth century, when Ottavio Vaselli began working the travertine quarries of Rapolano Terme, in the province of Siena — where stone has been quarried since the Etruscan era. Rapolano travertine, prized for its ivory and beige tones, was used to build Siena's Torre del Mangia, the Duomo in Pienza, and Milan's Central Station ticket hall.
Ottavio's son Veraldo trained as a chiseler and carver before building a company that supplied stone to major projects worldwide. But it was the third generation — siblings Danilo, Cinzia, and David Vaselli — who transformed the family business from a stone supplier into a design company, launching their first stone kitchen island in 2009 and establishing Vaselli's reputation for bespoke, monolithic furniture.
Today, Vaselli's workshop in Rapolano keeps nearly all production in-house — stone cutting, carving, and polishing alongside dedicated woodworking and metalworking studios. No melamine, no artificial materials. Every piece is made to order, every project a new prototype.

Vaselli doesn't work in conventional product lines — it works in "philosophies of style," offering archetypes that allow unrestrained creativity in modules, measurements, and materials. Every piece is bespoke.
Stone Kitchens
OCO — Vaselli's most versatile kitchen, available in travertine, marble, metal, and wood. Islands with sinks carved from solid stone and slab-matched doors that read as a single monolithic form. Fidia (Nicola Gallizia) — entirely clad in Rapolano travertine, inspired by the assembly techniques of ancient Greek sculptor Phidias, where individually crafted stone components join into one monolithic element. Sider (Gargano & Fagioli) — stone and iron stripped to their structural essentials. Chrysalis (Irene Goldberg) — a monolithic outdoor kitchen carved from Becagli travertine, winner of the German Design Award 2020. June (Kensaku Oshiro) — a kidney-shaped outdoor kitchen with integrated sink and cooktop, carved from a single travertine block.
Stone Bathrooms
Eidos (Kensaku Oshiro) — a complete travertine bathroom including an ofuro-style bathtub, solid-block vanity furniture, slatted shower trays, and a lightweight travertine screen. Hoop (Kensaku Oshiro) — built around a single organic curve applied across washbasins, bathtubs, mirrors, and shelves. Fidia Bath (Nicola Gallizia) — a stone bathroom where individually crafted components assemble into monolithic forms. Lava (Pitsou Kedem Architects) — volcanic-inspired bathroom vanity, winner of Interior Design's Best of Year Award 2024. Le Cave — Vaselli's foundational collection: bathtubs, washbasins, shower trays, and vanities carved from solid stone with waste plugs in matching stone. Waterfall — a freestanding basin with a faceted polygonal top that directs water like a stream over carved levels.
Materials
Over 30 natural stones and woods: Rapolano travertines (Bianco, Classico, Noce, Silver, Becagli, Dorato, Titanium), Italian marbles (Carrara, Calacatta, Statuario, Arabescato, Breccia Capraia, Nero Marquinia), lava stone, Pietra Serena, limestone, and international stones. Woods include oak, walnut, olive, cherry, and cypress. Metal elements fabricated in-house. The natural variability of each stone ensures no two pieces are ever identical.
