Flexform is a family story spanning three generations. Founded in 1959 by the Galimberti brothers in Meda, within the furniture-making district of Brianza, the company transformed from a small artisan workshop into one of Italy's most internationally respected luxury furniture brands.
Today, still family-owned and operated, Flexform remains rooted in the same region where the ‘Made in Italy’ design movement took shape in the 1960s. The brand's commitment to Italian manufacturing, artisan craftsmanship, and design integrity has never wavered — every Flexform sofa, chair, and table is still crafted in Meda using time-honored techniques combined with modern production innovation.
01. Flexform
The Galimberti brothers began in 1959 with an artisan workshop, initially crafting sofas and armchairs. Their furniture soon found its way into elegant Milanese apartments, Lake Como villas, and even the prestigious foyer of Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
The brand's modern identity crystallized in the 1970s when Flexform began collaborating with architect and designer Antonio Citterio. This partnership, which continues today, has produced some of the most iconic pieces in contemporary furniture design—including the legendary Groundpiece sofa, which redefined low-profile seating and remains in production nearly 55 years later.
Citterio's approach brought architectural rigor and refined minimalism to Flexform's design language: clean lines and a focus on proportion over ornamentation. His influence helped establish Flexform's signature aesthetic—furniture that feels timeless.
Over the decades, Flexform has also collaborated with legendary designers including Joe Colombo, Asnago-Vender, and Roberto Lazzeroni, ensuring each collection benefits from fresh perspectives while maintaining the brand's cohesive design philosophy.
